Code Breaker

Code Breaker
13 - 8 - 1 - 3 - 2 - 5 - 1 - 21


This sequence of numbers were given to me a month go in a question asking, " What do these numbers mean?" This question was part of a "KoKo Crunch" crossword puzzle i simply took part in. Now if you would like to attempt this question do not read the following paragraphs of this post till you give up or break the code. Some clues: there are 9 letters to the answer, moving the numbers around might make it easier to solve.

Here is the funny bit, i won this competition not by knowing the answer, but by simply guessing the answer. Now that i won, i was asked how i had answered all the questions. Now i have an answer for every other question except this one because like i said before i simply made a guess.

So here i am today, a 'simply guess code breaker', blogging about this sequence of numbers. I was pretty shocked when i saw the results as i never expected to make such an intelligent guess.

Well, to answer this question, it would be wise to re-arrange the numbers in increasing order. By doing so the sequence of numbers you can now see is the world's most famous mathematical progression, the FIBONACCI progression. Yes that is indeed the answer, FIBONACCI. A Fibonacci progression is a progression in which each term is equal to the sum of two preceding terms. Apparently flower petals follow the fibonacci numbers as well.

Now how many of you figured this one out? Well to those who did, congratulations! and those who did not, don't worry it is not the end of the world. Just think of it as a bit of trivia. After all i myself did not figure it out. I simply guessed the remaining letters.

Well i forgot to let you'll know. I won some koko crunch goodies. Thats about it for breaking a code like this.

Hey i just remembered that fibonacci created the code
the code is
1-2-3-5-8-13-21-34 and so on...
the combination is that it starts with 1,2 then the addition of the last two numbers to give you the next noeg 1+2=3
3+2=5
5+3=8
8+5=13
13+8=21
21+13=34
etc etc...
so it isnt really a code breaker its a sequence...
anyway a well deserved prize...

damn da vinci code.

its frickin everywhere!! im not really a fan of koko crunch (not even for breakfast, for that matter) but OMG dont tell me the cereals have caught on!! every where i go, ppl are talking abt Fibonacci or antimatter or the illuminati or the fall of the catholic church. dan brown has seriously struck gold if the damn koko crunch koala has begun sprouting the many definitions of the pentacle or the symbol of the Priory Sion.

i suppose the world owes him a thank you. if it wasnt for his incorporating scientific history into his weavings of conspiracy, nobody (especially not malaysians who nuts about general knowledge, ah but thats another matter) would know who Mr Fibonacci is.
